Who can help?

Nimbus Direct is a client for self-hosted Nimbus servers. App support and the operator of your selected server have different responsibilities.

Nimbus Direct app issue

Crashes, display problems, Face ID behavior, app navigation, localization, or a reproducible problem specific to the iOS app.

Which server address should I enter?

Use the HTTPS address of the Nimbus Direct web panel provided by your infrastructure provider, for example https://nimbus.provider.example. Do not enter the Proxmox address or port 8006. The app connects to Nimbus, and Nimbus communicates with Proxmox.

Why can’t I sign in?

Check the server address, email, password, and current 2FA code. Make sure the same Nimbus website opens in Safari. Nimbus has no central account system, so only the provider that created your account can reset its password, resend an invitation, enable it, or change its role.

The app cannot connect to my Nimbus server. What should I check?
  • Open the server address in Safari and confirm that the Nimbus login page appears.
  • Use HTTPS with a certificate trusted by iOS.
  • Check whether a VPN, firewall, reverse proxy, or Zero Trust policy blocks the connection.
  • If the web panel also fails, contact the server operator.

App Support cannot access or reconfigure a third-party Nimbus installation.

Why do I only see some virtual machines or containers?

Customers see only resources assigned to their customer account in the Nimbus database. Administrators can see resources according to their administrator access. If an expected resource is missing, the server operator must synchronize Proxmox and check its Nimbus assignment.

How does Face ID app lock work?

Enable it under Settings → App lock. Nimbus then locks its local mobile session when the app leaves the foreground. Face ID matching stays inside iOS. After three unsuccessful biometric attempts, Nimbus requires the device passcode. You can always sign out and remove the local session from the lock screen.

How do I enable or disable push notifications?

Open Settings → Push notifications. Enabling asks iOS for permission and registers this device with the connected Nimbus server. Disabling unregisters the device while preserving your notification-category preferences. You can also restrict banners, sounds, or badges in iPhone Settings.

If registration remains unavailable, the server operator may need to configure native push delivery for that Nimbus installation.

Are passkeys and Face ID the same feature?

No. A passkey signs in to a Nimbus web account without a password and is managed in the web panel. Face ID app lock protects the mobile session already stored on this iPhone. Enabling one does not automatically enable the other.

Why does an instance still show an old status?

Pull to refresh or use the refresh button. Changes made directly in Proxmox become visible after the Nimbus server performs its next resource synchronization. If the status remains stale in both the app and web panel, the server operator should check cluster connectivity and the configured synchronization interval.

Why is a power or management action unavailable?

Nimbus checks the account role, resource assignment, per-resource permissions, current guest state, maintenance locks, and demo mode before showing or executing an action. The server operator can review these permissions. Hiding or changing an identifier in the app cannot bypass backend authorization.

What should I do if the console does not open or feels slow?
  • Confirm the VM or container is running and your assignment permits console access.
  • Close the console and request a fresh short-lived session.
  • Try a stable, low-latency network without aggressive VPN filtering.
  • If every console is affected, ask the operator to verify WebSocket proxying and the Nimbus-to-Proxmox connection.

Never send console passwords or confidential console output to support.

Why can’t I use snapshots, ISO files, or CD-ROM controls?

These tools appear only when the resource type and its assignment permissions allow them. ISO and CD-ROM controls are intended for compatible QEMU virtual machines; LXC containers do not use a virtual optical drive. Storage policy, quota, maintenance, and Proxmox permissions can also limit an operation.

Should I contact App Support or my server operator?

Contact Nimbus Direct App Support for app crashes, broken layouts, localization, Face ID behavior, or a reproducible issue unique to the iOS app.

Contact your server operator for accounts, password resets, invitations, permissions, VM assignments, server outages, Proxmox errors, billing, retention, or support tickets about hosted infrastructure.

What information should I include in a support email?

Include the Nimbus app version, iOS version, iPhone or iPad model, the server hostname, the approximate time and time zone, exact steps, the visible error text, and a screenshot with sensitive information removed. Never include passwords, 2FA or recovery codes, API keys, session tokens, Proxmox credentials, or confidential console content.

Which privacy policy applies?

The Nimbus Direct App Privacy Policy covers the iOS app and its developer. The provider operating the Nimbus server you selected is separately responsible for that server, its hosting, account data, logs, email, infrastructure, and retention. When configured, the app shows the operator’s policy as a separate link.
